LANSING, Mich. — Firefighters battled a fire early Sunday at the Lansing Eastside Gateway, 615 E. Kalamazoo St., in Lansing.

Fire officials say it sparked around 5:20 a.m. It took crews about an hour to get the blaze under control.

While fighting the fire, crews were told someone might have been asleep in the back of the building.

Just before 11 a.m., crews found the body of John Bolan inside a section of the burned out building.

The Lansing Fire Department said late Sunday afternoon the cause remains under investigation.

In a Facebook post Sunday evening, the center thanked people for the outpouring of support.

Lansing Eastide Gateway is "an incubator for small businesses," according to its website. It refers to itself as a "hyper-local mini-mall."
