Bill would change union rules

Should unions be required to represent people who decide not to pay dues?

Right now they have to under Michigan's "right-to-work" law, but a bill in the legislature called "worker's choice" would change that by allowing unions to cut them loose so they can negotiate their own deals with employers.

The bill would only apply to public employee unions. Federal labor laws cover private sector unions.

We'll let you know when it comes up for a vote.
