State police are looking into criminal allegations made against a former Grand Ledge schools band director.

The allegations were made in Genesee County, where Blackmer once worked for Kearsley Public Schools.

Blackmer is facing 14 sex-crime charges in Florida. Police in the Orlando area arrested him on April 5 on a child pornography charge. Investigators say a tip led them to search Blackmer's phone, where they found a 39-minute video showing him engaging in a sex act with a minor.

State police will not go into details about the Genesee County allegations. Detectives are working with the county prosecutor's office but say a report has not been sent to prosecutors.

Grand Ledge police, the Eaton County Sheriff's Office and Grand Ledge Public Schools each say they never received any complaints about Blackmer.

In addition to Grand Ledge and Kearsley, Blackmer worked for Walled Lake Northern High School, Dearborn Edsel Ford High School and Dearborn Divine Child Middle School and High School before moving to Florida. He was band director for Winter Park High School at the time of his arrest.

We broke the story on Monday that Blackmer is now facing 14 sex-crime charges in Florida. The charges include counts of sexual activity with a 16 or 17-year-old by a school authority, using a child in a sexual performance, and unlawful possession of materials of a child depicting a sexual performance.
