Bela Karolyi said: "I had a feeling he's a snake, coming out to bite you."

In their first interview since the USA Gymnastics scandal involving Larry Nassar came to light, Martha and Bela Karolyi said they didn't know what abuse Nassar was doing at their Texas ranch.

In the hour-long NBC News Dateline special that aired Sunday night, the Karolyis responded to criticism from several gymnasts and some that have been laid out in two lawsuits against them.

They told Savannah Guthrie of NBC News that they are extremely hurt by what happened, but they don't feel responsible because no one complained to them about Nassar.

Martha Karolyi:: "Never ever one single complaint."

The Karolyi ranch was closed down earlier this year.

The Karolyis said although they owned the ranch, USA Gymnastics leased the property and operated the training camps.

They also said it wasn't their job to ensure Nassar avoided being alone with minors because Nassar reported to USA Gymnastics, not them.
