Nearby Portland, Michigan is getting hate mail from around the country, but it's for what happened in Portland, Oregon.
The Portland Police Bureau is Oregon received criticism over both a black man being shot and killed by police last year and ensuing protests.
As a result, the Michigan town's Facebook page has received many negative reviews and angry messages from people mistaking them for the other Portland.
"Recently we've been told we shouldn't exist" said Chief Star Thomas with the Portland Police Department. "There's no reason for our existence. Why are we even here? And then there are some messages that have been taken down or removed just because of the vulgarity."
Last week the town posted on Facebook clarifying that they are a small town in Michigan, but messages are still coming in.
