LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - The Sparrow Children's Center asked people Saturday to share their hair for charity.

The center organized the third annual "Hair-A-Thon" which benefits the Michigan organizations "Wigs 4 Kids" and "Children with Hair Loss.”

Those organizations provide free wigs for children and adolescents who lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other causes.

FOX 47 News caught up with one mom and for her, it was an emotional day.

"I'm donating today because my two and a half year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor and our friend told us about the event,” said Julia Haskell. “We all wanted to come and donate today."

Stylists were on hand at the event to take hair donations of eight inches or more of clean hair in good condition.
