To have international students at MSU learn the area and meet new people, Greek Life and the city of East Lansing is teaming with the Office of International Students and Scholars to host an inaugural scavenger hunt.

Organizers are expecting to have roughly 50 international students, and 20 Greek Life members participating in the scavenger hunt throughout downtown East Lansing.

The event is to bring the two groups together, as well as show international students the different businesses downtown.

“It also promotes inclusion and the diversity we have within MSU itself,” said Eric Fox, East Lansing Downtown Management Coordinator. “This will be a good way to promote downtown businesses, and our diversity.”

The scavenger hunt will have members from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Zeta Tua Alpha sorority.

Hunters will go throughout downtown and take pictures showing each task or location. At the end, they will post their pictures to their Facebook page.

To have international students come together and learn the downtown area and be more comfortable shopping here is a great thing,” said Fox. “It’s also taking two polar opposites, Greek Life and international students to break down these barriers, mingle and make new friends.”
