LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer wrote an op-ed article for The New York Times in response to the leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft indicating the court may be prepared to overturn Roe v. Wade.
In Whitmer’s piece, she mentioned a lawsuit she filed last month asking the Michigan Supreme Court to immediately resolve whether the state constitution includes the right to an abortion.
She also wrote that she encourages her fellow pro-choice governors, state legislators, private sector leaders and citizens to use tools available to protect safe, legal abortions.
