LANSING, Mich. — Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter wants to encourage people to adopt with a new Valentine’s Day special. On February 14th and 15th ICACS will be adopting any shelter resident dog that is appears to be all or part bully-breed for the discounted rate of $20. This adoption fee includes a one year dog license, microchip, current vaccinations, and the pet has been spayed/neutered.
ICACS receives approximately 1,200 dogs every year, and of those dogs, over 70% of them are pit bulls. Currently there are 18 adoptable dogs at the shelter, and 14 of them are some combination of bully breed. ICACS does behavioral evaluations on all animals before they go up for adoption, and makes recommendations for the appropriate housing and training needs of the pets once they get into their forever homes.
The shelter will be open from 10:30am to 5pm on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th, will adoptions ending at 4:30 both days. This special will not include dogs in foster care, or dogs that have not already been altered. Adoption applications will still be screened, and adopters that do not own their own home will need to bring authorization from their landlord or leasing agency showing their pet policy.
