It was an afternoon filled with coloring and magic that only a Disney character could conjure up with patients.

One of those patients, Keegan Williams, 5, is in remission for t-cell lymphoblastic leukemia.

Keegan’s dad said it all started around the holiday season.

“Our journey started last year right before thanksgiving,” said Keith Williams. “Like any parent we were totally shocked, it rocked our world, it was the worst news I’d ever heard in my entire life. “

But Wednesday little to do with doctor appointments and everything to do with Disney fun and meeting his favorite character, Mickey.

Keegan and Disney performer, Adriene, share a similar story. She’s now a Disney on Ice dancer after surviving Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

“In May of 2019, I was having some back pain while I was on tour but, I didn't really think anything of it,” said Ott. “Once I got an MRI and was getting treatment for it, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma which is a type of blood cancer. “

Ott’s husband plays Aladdin in the show, making their time on the ice together, that much sweeter.

With about two months left on this tour, Ott said she hopes meeting kids like Keegan, inspires them to keep fighting whatever battle their going through.

Keegan’s dad to FOX 17, he’s been in remission for three months now. Wednesday was also a big day for the 5-year-old because it was his second haircut following his cancer treatment.

The Williams family are also getting to see the show live!
