There's nothing like a piece of good old fashioned fried chicken, but not all are created equal. There’s an art to frying up that perfect piece of chicken and it goes way beyond the batter. Kristina Guerrero has done some taste-testing and here are three of her favorites across America.

1. Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles in Phoenix, Arizona

You gotta go go go to Lo-Lo-Lo’s! They’ve got the best breasts and legs in town and the fried chicken and waffles are taking the bar to the next level. Owner Larry White uses his grandmother's secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices. Then he adds his own special touch.

2. Willie Mae's Scotch House in New Orleans, Louisiana

Chicken lovers flock to this hot spot. Willie Mae Seaton opened her doors in 1957 and her tiny restaurant has been a Nola institution ever since. Today granddaughter Kerry and her husband Michael serve up legendary dishes based on Willie Mae's secret wet batter recipe.

3.  Federal Donuts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Heading to the East Coast, some amazing fried chicken is found in nothing other than a doughnut shop. Yep! This is where the fried chicken is known for not only being delicious, but also innovative. Co-owner Tom Henneman says the magic is in their signature glazes. YUM!
