You may be anxious and uncertain about how to get medical care during this time. You may be putting off dealing with a medical question or concern. But getting medical care when you need it is considered essential.

Dr. Ashley Barcroft, an internal medicine and pediatric physician with Spectrum Health Medical Group shares why you should connect with your primary care provider as well as the virtual and in-person care options available to you.

Maintining good health is extremely important. Not getting the proper medical care could cause unnecessary suffering or pain, or there may be serious consequences as a result of not addressing health issues in a timely manner.

While COVID-19 screenings, testing and care are still a big area in the medical world right now, medical providers are ready to care for patients with non-COVID issues as well.

If you do have a health concern that's low to medium severity, reach out to your primary care provider. For Spectrum Health patients, reach out to make a telehealth or in-person appointment though MyHealth.

For appointments that require an in-person visit, Spectrum Health is doing everything they can to protect people's health. Measures they're taking include:

o Extra cleaning throughout all facilities.
o Screening all employees, patients and visitors.
o Requiring everyone to wear a mask and team members wear any other appropriate personal protective equipment.
o We are scheduling appointments with time in between to minimize wait times to avoid contact with other patients.
o Placing patients in exams rooms whenever possible to avoid time in the waiting room.
o Promoting social distancing through signage as well as reorganizing our waiting rooms where needed.
