The English Inn donated 100 four-course meals to people who have worked through the pandemic. On Wednesday, the lucky recipients went to get them.
People had booked them meals online for others who they believe deserved them.
Bethany Young nominated her mom and stepdad because, when she lost her job, they made sure to help her out with bills and were always there to support her.
"My mom's a disability specialist, and my stepdad works for MSU through PBS, so they've both just been working really hard. They don't really have time for each other during the pandemic because they're so busy helping everybody else out," Young said.
She said her mom was taken back when she found out.
"It was really nice to kind of you know let her feel appreciated like she makes us feel," Young said.
Pam Pratt works in the food service industry and was nominated by a friend. Pratt said she was shocked.
"Doesn't matter rain, shine, snow, cold we're out there doing it. And so, I guess that's what she thought of. And she thought of me, and I was just like, 'Wow, I haven't seen you in a couple of years, and you actually did this.' So, it was just really great," Pratt said.
Andrea Fulgencio nominated her sister, who works in a grocery store, and brother-in-law, who works at GM. She says she admires how they've worked every day.
"Whenever they've been scheduled as scheduled, they show up. They don't complain. I just think they deserve to be recognized for it," she said.
Fulgencio said her sister and brother-in-law knew they were nominated and were excited.
"They were thrilled. So nice for my sister to not have to cook tonight," Fulgencio said.
