16-year-old boy shot and killed in Jackson

JACKSON, Mich. — A 16-year-old boy is dead following a Monday evening shooting in Jackson, according to police.

Police were called to the area of West High Street and Sheldon Street, where they found the boy bleeding severely from a gunshot wound to the upper leg.

He was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health, where he died.

Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was walking with two other people when someone shot at them multiple times. The victim was hit once.

Police have not yet identified a suspect.
