HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale Health & Wellness, a walk-in and family practice clinic owned and operated by Hillsdale Hospital, has received Rural Health Clinic (RHC) designation. This is earned by clinics that pass a rigorous survey demonstrating quality and safety. In addition, Dr. Kwasi Boakye’s internal medicine and endocrinology practice will relocate to Hillsdale Health & Wellness as of Monday, December 28.
“We are incredibly proud of our team who worked hard to earn this designation,” Seth Gibson, director of outpatient services, said. “We went through a comprehensive process to demonstrate the excellent care we provide and show that Hillsdale Health & Wellness meets the rigorous standards set out by the The Compliance Team accreditation body and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).”
Clinics who receive RHC designation implement strategies proven to further enhance the quality, safety and access to care, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for their patients.
“Patient access is also a priority of RHC designation,” Gibson said. “This happens through ensuring we have high-quality providers who can get our patients in for appointments in a timely manner—like with our walk-in care and same-day appointments.”
Hillsdale Health & Wellness is located at 240 W. Carleton Road. The addition of Dr. Boakye’s practice will bring an added specialty to the care already offered at the clinic and provide a more convenient location for his patients. He will continue to offer all the same services as he did at his previous office.
“We’re excited to now have walk-in care, family practice, internal medicine and endocrinology all in one location,” Gibson said. “As of December 28, Dr. Boakye will see patients exclusively at Health Hillsdale & Wellness. This will enhance the continuum of care available at this practice, and we are looking forward to seeing the positive health outcomes for his patients.”
The walk-in clinic will continue to be staffed by family practice providers, including family nurse practitioners Laura Dunlevy and Reanna Pickerign; physician’s assistant Randy Podoll and Dr. Kurt Roecker. The clinic is open for walk-in care 10 am-6 pm daily and family practice appointments 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. Starting December 28, it will be open for internal medicine and endocrinology appointments 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 3 pm Friday.
