WXYZ — Michigan State still feels they have an outside chance to continuing the 22-year tradition of participating in the NCAA Tournament, but it will certainly be no easy task.
The Spartans overcame an early deficit at Indiana to get a much needed win to keep their postseason chances on life support.
"I thought we played how we know we can play," Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said.
The Spartans have six regular season games left, and then the Big Ten Tournament to bolster their resume, which currently is ranked 65th in the Kenpom rankings.
“We know what we can do as a team. Whether we can go out and do that is a different thing,” junior forward Aaron Henry said.
Michigan State has home games with two top five opponents, with Illinois and Ohio State coming to the Breslin Center this week.
That just opens a stretch of six games in 13 days, and the Spartans must maintain a small picture view of the season instead of wondering about anything after the next game.
"I talked to them two weeks ago about what has to happen for us to get in, who knows what's going to happen. I'm sure as hell not worried about what's going to happen," Izzo said.
"You can't overlook anybody without looking at the day in front of you, these are high-level teams, we're going to approach it one day at a time," Henry said.
