With millions in Michigan celebrating the Labor Day holiday on Monday, there’s an important warning being issued to avoid risks of spreading COVID-19.
“We can’t just hide at home, we need to be able to function as a society," said Dr. Matthew Sims, Director of Infectious Disease Research at Beaumont Health.
Dr. Sims is reminding us all about practicing social distancing, mask wearing, cough etiquette and hand hygiene.
“If you have a front and back door, also make sure to label one the entrance and one the exit, to avoid added risks.” he said.
Dr. Sims also said handshaking is still a major thing to avoid, and drinks should be served in separate containers that can’t be shared. Pre-packaged plastic wear is also recommended. Reminders can be posted for guests as they arrive and, “If you’re having symptoms of COVID, such as fever, cough or muscle aches, fatigue, loss of sense of smell or taste, just stay home.” adds Dr. Sims.
Lastly, remember germs can travel more than six feet if there is a breeze. That’s something anyone outdoors should also consider in order to avoid the risk of the virus spreading.
