Michigan confirms 762 new cases of COVID-19, zero additional deaths

LANSING, Mich. — There are now 86,191 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 6,247 deaths, the state reported Friday.

That's up 762 cases from the day before.

On Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer extended the state's emergency and disaster declaration until Sept. 4.

The governor's office said every region in Michigan has seen an uptick in new cases over the past several weeks; daily case counts in late July exceeded 50 cases per million statewide.

The statewide positivity rate has also increased from a low of 2% in mid-June to 3.5% in late July.
