LANSING, Mich. — There are 154,688 total cases of COVID-19 and 7,147 deaths in Michigan, the state reported Friday.
That's up 1,826 cases and 18 deaths from the day before.
Additionally, the state reports there are 17,214 probable cases.
In a press conference Wednesday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer the current peak of daily COVID-19 cases is higher than what the state saw in April.
Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun said the case rate is 80 percent more than one month ago. The percentage of positive tests is 4.9%, which represents community spread across the state.
Dr. Khaldun said all regions of the state have seen an increase in hospitalizations over the past three weeks.
