LANSING, Mich. — There are now 96,024 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan and 6,389 deaths, according to new numbers released by the state on Saturday.
That's up 953 cases and 11 deaths from the day before.
As of Aug. 21, a cumulative total of 72,580 have recovered from the virus in the state.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun said the Detroit region still has the highest case rate at 61 cases per million people per day. She noted that the case rate is largely driven by counties outside Detroit.
