State of Michigan reports 3,625 cases of COVID-19 and 38 deaths Friday

LANSING, Mich. — The State of Michigan reported 3,625 cases of COVID-19 and 38 deaths on Friday.

The total number of cases now climbs to 516,376 and the death toll has risen to 13,132

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer held a news conference on Friday to provide a COVID-19 update for the state.

Whitmer gave an update on vaccine distribution. She said that the State of Michigan ships out received vaccines immediately and that the state is now averaging more than 20,000 shots in arms daily.

"The State of Michigan has pushed out every single vaccine that we have received," said Gov. Whitmer, adding that the state ranks 5th in the nation for vaccine distribution efforts.

She notes that the state's dashboard reflecting vaccine distribution could have discrepancies due to the timing of the process.

Governor Whitmer is also encouraging all K-12 schools in Michigan to offer in-person classes by March 1.
