The Detroit Zoo will be holding a Valentine's-themed event called Heart Fest, highlighting animals at the Detroit Zoo who "heart" one another.

The animals will receive special treats, including treat-filled piñatas, heart-shaped ice treats and painted rocks.

When a male penguin finds the female he wishes to waddle through life with, he searches for a stone to give her as a gift. Once he picks the perfect one, he places it at her feet, declaring his desire to mate.

If the female accepts the "pebble proposal," the rock will be one of many used to build their nest.

Heart Fest will take place Thursday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 9.

The schedule is as follows:

Noon - penguins

12:30 p.m. - red pandas
1 p.m. - wolverines
1:30 p.m. - polar bears
2 p.m. - wolves
