This election is like no other we have seen in history. Voters have concerns about COVID-19, the integrity of the election, voter intimidation, and how long it will take to get results.

Friday the clerks in Oakland and Macomb County held a press conference with a message about what voters can expect.

They are repeating the message that this year the high number of absentee ballots could lead to delays in results.

“This isn’t a race. It is not how fast can you do it. It is ensuring the accuracy. So just keep that in mind,” said Lisa Brown, Oakland County Clerk.

“People can be assured that every vote will be counted,” said Fred Miller, Macomb County Clerk.

There have been concerns that groups of people could try to intimidate voters. They have coordinated communication with law enforcement. They will not have law enforcement watching voters.

However, if there is suspicious activity or loitering law enforcement are prepared to respond.

“We have been coordinating with law enforcement at the state, county, and local level to make sure the channels of communication are open on election day,” said Miller.

If you have concerns about anything you see at the polls there is a hotline. 866-OUR-VOTE will connect you with the State Board of Elections.
