The State of Michigan continues to see a record number of absentee ballot requests with just five weeks until the 2020 general election.
According to the Michigan Department of State, there have been 2.55 million absentee ballot requests submitted so far.
That's up from 2.39 million requests just last week.
The state department said of the requests, about 2 million ballots have already been sent out to Michigan voters. The Secretary of State's office was able to send absentee ballots out beginning Sept. 24.
According to the state, clerks across Michigan have already received 28,000 ballots.
A spokesperson for the Secretary of State said they are urging voters to get their absentee ballots back to clerks as soon as possible. After Oct. 19, the state said they will no longer advise people to mail their ballots, and instead, they will suggest people hand-deliver their ballots to the local clerk's office or drop-box.
Anyone who hasn't requested an absentee ballot can do so by mail. the deadline to request and fill out an absentee ballot in-person at your local clerk's office is 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 if you're already registered to vote.
Compared to the August primary election, the state said 1.6 million Michiganders voted absentee.
