LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Brook Gillum, a teacher at Beacon Elementary in Dexter is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In their nomination video, Diana Gasek's Grandchildren say, "We love Mrs. Gillum because she was more than a teacher, she was a part of our family."
Brook commented, "Oh man! It is overwhelmingly beautiful and just feels like such a gift to have such thoughtful students in my past."
Brook was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
