LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Cari Shephard, a teacher at Grand Blanc West Middle School in Grand Blanc is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In her nomination video, Mary Kennedy-Jacobs says, "It is an honor and a gift to work beside her each day."
Cari commented, "Ultimately that what they're going to remember are the connections with you versus the math. When you see a kid finally have that click and you know they understand, and they can see it paid off, their hardwork, it is joyful!"
Cari was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $23 billion to support public education since 1972!
