LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Charlie Butler, a teacher at Grosse Ile High School is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In her nomination video, Maddie Miller says, "He carries the title of teacher and Coach with a purpose, you can tell it's more than just a job for him." In her nomination video, Lillian Centlivre says, "We have celebrated many victories out on the basketball court but celebrating your accomplishments is by far one of my favorites."
Charlie commented, "While I may have gone into it idealistically that I wanted to change things it became just make sure the students become people, they get out, they become people, and they make me a better person."
Charlie was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and his school will receive a $500 grant!
