LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Colleen Berry, the Nutrition Services Specialist at Canton High School is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In her nomination video, Diane Hissom-Galanty says, "She leads her team by example getting to know her students and working tremendously hard to deliver delicious, healthy food every school day."
Colleen commented, "I started realizing how important it is it's to get these kids fed for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes it's the only meal that they get."
Colleen was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $23 billion to support public education since 1972!
