LANSING, Mich. — Kirsten Billeter is this week's Excellence in Education winner, we have a video from your nominator take a look!

"Her Commitment to making the students better both inside and outside of the classroom is a direct reflection of her care and understanding of her profession." - Ryan Sullivan

Tell me about that?

That's my baby brother Ryan who knew better than to say exactly how long I've been teaching. I just love the students, there's nothing like getting a student that's struggling to that a-ha moment and just being able to show them you can do this.

What’s it like when you see that spark in a student?

It gives you that motivation to keep going and to go on to the next student and get them to see that spark.

Kirsten receives a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her class at Whittemore-Prescott High School receives a $500 Grant.

Excellence in Education awards sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, providing more than 22 billion dollars to public education since 1972.
