LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Mallory Rivard, a teacher with the Bay City's MacGregor Elementary is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. In her nomination video Wendy Rivard says, "Mallory congratulations on your award, you're an inspiration and role model to so many young children."
Mallory commented "It’s just so heartwarming and my mom who nominated me has been my inspiration my entire life. My teachers gave so much to me when I was a kid, I hope that the kids feel just as excited coming into my classroom as I did going into my third grade classroom as well. It’s not about the money at the end of the day, It’s not about how much money I put into it it's just about giving the kids a safe space to be who they are!"
Mallory was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $23 billion to support public education since 1972!
