LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.

Margy Barile, a teacher with the Haslett Public Schools is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. Her nominator says, Margy is a true leader and her initiatives and accomplishments are indicative of her dedication to the students and the staff of Haslett Public Schools. This is why she is this week's excellence in education award winner.

As Margy explained "to positively impact a child's life is one of the most wonderful things in the world and you hear kids talking about solving world hunger and coming up with these wonderful ideas about things that they could do that you cannot even imagine, it's really inspirational to hear and see what they're doing.

Margy was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!

The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $20 billion to support public education since 1972!
