LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.
Meagen Granberry, a teacher at Mary Hellen Guest Elementary in Walled Lake, Michigan is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. Her nominator says, Meagen Granberry is a 3rd grade elementary teacher that donates extra hours and goes above and beyond. In the regular classroom you spend countless hours just giving back to your students. We asked her why she does this and she explained "I really value that position. Aside from being a teacher you can offer kids experiences and getting to see them grow as people. YOu also get to engage This is why she is this week's excellence in education award winner.
As Margy explained "to positively impact a child's life is one of the most wonderful things in the world and you hear kids talking about solving world hunger and coming up with these wonderful ideas about things that they could do that you cannot even imagine, it's really inspirational to hear and see what they're doing.
Margy was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her school will receive a $500 grant!
