LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Lottery has played a big role in funding education in our state, which is why it has teamed up with FOX 47 News to recognize excellent educators state-wide.

Stewart Kieliszewski, a teacher with the Ubly Community Schools is this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education award winner. His nominator letter says, being part of that team gave me something to truly love and be proud of. He really went above and beyond the call of duty for us and never gave up when times were tough.

As Stewart commented "I just feel it is my duty to provide as many experiences for our kids in a rural setting as kids get in a much larger setting and so I feel that providing those experiences is key. There's no greater sense of pride for me to have in those students."

Stewart was recognized with a $1,500 check from the Michigan Lottery and his school will receive a $500 grant!

The Excellence in Education award is sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, proud to provide more than $20 billion to support public education since 1972!
