According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the deal will be for five years.
Beilein has coached the Wolverines since 2007 and just last year signed a contract through the 2022-23 season.
"I am grateful for the opportunity the University of Michigan has given to me over the past 11 years," Beilein said in a release at the time of the contract signing. "Kathleen and I love Ann Arbor, our University, our fans and the state of Michigan. We will continue to work very hard in the future to have our basketball team reflect the greatness of this University."
According to Wojnarowski, Beilein reached a deal Sunday and informed the team of his decision to leave on Monday morning. Wojnarowski also reported that Beilien has grown more and more frustrated with college basketball's recruiting and the ways teams keep top players.
He reportedly interviewed for the Detroit Pistons coaching job last season, but ultimately signed the extension with Michigan.
The Wolverines have made nine trips to the NCAA Tournament and two trips to the National Championship game. The Wolverines were eliminated in the Sweet 16 in the last NCAA Tournament.
Beilein has a career record of 571-325 including a 278-150 record for the Wolverines.
