KFC is jumping into the plant-based meat business by testing plant-based chicken in partnership with Beyond Meat.

According to the company, Beyond Fried Chicken will make its debut on Aug. 27 in a limited test in Atlanta.

The new chicken, KFC says, will offering the finger lickin' good fried chicken flavor those who love KFC are used to.

It will test at one restaurant on Cobb Parkway near SunTrust Park in Atlanta.

It's available in nuggets with your choice of dipping sauce,or boneless wings tossed in three different sauces.

"KFC Beyond Fried Chicken is so delicious, our customers will find it difficult to tell that it's plant-based," said Kevin Hochman, president and chief concept officer, KFC U.S. "I think we've all heard 'it tastes like chicken' – well our customers are going to be amazed and say, 'it tastes like Kentucky Fried Chicken!'"

Customer feedback from the Atlanta location will be considered to help determine if KFC should do a bigger test or roll it out nationwide.
