Lansing homicide victim identified

The Lansing Police Department have released the name of a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

The victim is Nathan Daniel Jackson. He was stabbed at a residence on the 1800 block of Olds Avenue around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. When officers arrived at the home, they found Jackson, who was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A 21-year-old man is in custody as a suspect in Jackson's death. The investigation reports will be turned over to the Ingham County Prosecutor to review.

A 21-year old man is in custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16-year old boy in Lansing Wednesday night.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Olds Avenue around 10 p.m. after a report of a possible stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the teen had been stabbed and was unresponsive.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Officers were given a description of the vehicle the suspect was in, and alerted patrol officers who pulled the suspect over in a traffic stop in the 3200 block of South Cedar Street.

The man was taken into custody without incident.

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other and had been involved in an ongoing feud.

Police spokesman Robert Merritt told FOX 47 News the two were verbally arguing in the 1800 block of Olds Avenue when that argument escalated and turned physical.

Police are still investigating and interviewing witnesses.

The victim's name has not been released. The suspect's name won't be released until he is arraigned in court.
