26-year-old female in critical condition after shooting in Jackson

A 26-year-old female was shot one time in the back, and taken to the hospital in critical condition, police say.

The Jackson Police Department reports that around 8:32 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a house in the 400 block of Jefferson Street for a report of a shooting inside a residence.

Police found the victim shot one time in the back. She was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health.
A suspect in the shooting was quickly developed the department reports, and a broadcast was put out to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

The Michigan State Police and Columbia Township Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle in the area of Wheaton Road and Silver Lake Highway at approximately 9:06 p.m.  The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to the Jackson Police Department.

The 19 year old suspect is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.  No further information is available at this as to the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The victim is in critical condition at Henry Ford Allegiance Health, the Jackson Police Department reports.
