EATON COUNTY, Mich. — Hanna Barron was killed in January and on Monday, May 6, a second person was charged in connection with her death.

Lashay Hursey mugshot (Source Eaton County Sheriff) Lashay Hursey of Lansing, 21, has been charged with murder and felony weapons using a firearm.

Barron was killed in what police called a drug deal gone wrong.

They say she was with two other women trying to sell marijuana wax near the Woodside Meadows apartments.

The man they were meeting there for the sale pulled a gun on them, shot and killed Barron and injured another.

He was later located by the Lansing Police and arrested.

Aaron Montreal Anthony Ross, 20, of Lansing, was arraigned in 56-A District Court on the following charges:
Count 1: Homicide – Open Murder
Count 2: Weapons Offense - CCW
Count 3: Felony Firearm
Count 4: Assault with intent to murder

Ross is being held in the Eaton County jail. His status hearing is May 17.

The family of Barron talked with Fox 47's Cryss Walker and described their daughter as a wild-flower who danced to her own beat.

“She was a great mother. The two kids were her life”, said Hanna’s father Michael Barron.

The 19-year-old was one month away from her birthday, looking forward to graduating from Life Tech and enjoying her new car.

“When she got her car, she was just all bubbly,” said her step-father James Sharp.

“She was so proud of it and then to see it on the news like that is enough to just tear us a part.”

Hursey will be arraigned in Eaton County Circuit Court on May 10.
