LANSING, Mich. — Starting in March 2016 Xavier DeGroat became friends with President Donald Trump’s personal attorney and former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani after Xavier was the keynote speaker for the Els for Autism Golf Event a non-profit founded by Pro Golfer Ernie Els. It became truly enriching for Xavier who is on the autism spectrum himself to get to work closely and communicate very week since then with Mr. Giuliani. It’s like everything else being at the right place at the right time.
Mayor Giuliani had helped keep Xavier very motivated about the world of politics and to continue doing all the great work he is doing. Xavier once stated “I am honored and pleased to have met with Mayor Rudy Giuliani and thankful for all his support getting my foot into the door of the most powerful place in the world” The White House has interested Xavier since a decade ago dreaming that he would one day meet and speak with a President of the USA to make a difference for all and he did.
It all started when Mr. Giuliani escorted Xavier to the Oval Office for a half hour meeting with President Donald Trump back in August 28th 2019 to raise acceptance and awareness for autism to now completing an Internship at the White House as the first one diagnosed with autism and changing the way the Department of Homeland Security through TSA handles the security process for those on the spectrum while at Airports. There is more work still to come with the FBI also benefiting those with autism that the XDAF is fighting for.
