EAST LANSING, Mich. — Attorney General Dana Nessel says her office is at an impasse with former Michigan State University Interim President John Engler.
The Attorney General's office has been trying to interview Engler for its investigation into how MSU handled the Larry Nassar scandal.
AG Nessel told sources at the Mackinac Policy Conference that Engler's un-willingness to be interviewed will not stop them from finishing the investigation.
Not long after Engler resigned from MSU, Nessel requested an interview. A March interview at her Washington office was called off.
The AG's office says that meeting was canceled after Engler was seen at Michigan State basketball games in East Lansing.
In a letter, Engler said he will not talk to the AG's office because he believes the office is biased against him.
That letter says Engler would not talk to investigators unless the Assistant AG recused herself.
Nessel says Engler does not want to be interviewed in Michigan where she has authority to prosecute.
