LANSING, Mich. — John Engler has been added to the list of people that the Attorney General's office wants to interview for the ongoing MSU Investigation.
On Thursday, FOX 47 confirmed that AG Nessel and her Michigan State investigation team have requested from MSU an interview with John Engler. MSU said they have notified Engler of the request.
The request was sent prior to the board announcing Engler's resignation on Wednesday.
Thursday morning, the Board of Trustees held a meeting to accept his resignation effective immediately. At that meeting they also appointed a new interim president for MSU.
Satish Upda, a former dean at MSU, will step in as interim president until the board appoints a permanent president in June.
The MSU Investigation has already charged former MSU president Lou Anna K. Simon,
former dean of MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine William Strampel, and former Gymnastics Coach Kathie Klages.
Simon is facing four charges including two felonies. She's accused of lying to police during an investigation into Nassar.
Kathie Klages is also charged with lying to police in the Nassar investigation.
And Strampel is facing several misconduct charges.
