LANSING, Mich. — Michigan kids ages 10-18 are invited to enter the #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime Thanksgiving Day experience courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit Lions. The sweepstakes, now in its sixth year, will present one child the opportunity to virtually deliver the commemorative game ball to Ford Field for the 81st annual Thanksgiving Day game and, new this year, the winner will get a $1,000 gift card to be used towards Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate with their family at home while watching the game.
The sweepstakes aims to highlight children’s health and asks families to share how they get active for 60 minutes on Thanksgiving Day by filling out the form at www.DetroitLions.com/TurkeyDayVIP, now open through Nov. 11.
“The #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes has been redesigned for 2020, ensuring this once-in-alifetime opportunity with the Detroit Lions remains a safe and healthy experience,” said Andrew Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “The #MIKidsCan program has long recognized children who encourage and maintain an active healthy lifestyle with good nutrition and exercise habits. We are appreciative of our longstanding partnership with the Lions and our mutual goal of celebrating healthy lifestyles for Michigan kids with this experience. Whether we are at Ford Field or in the comfort of our own homes, we are still keeping the Thanksgiving Classic tradition going.”
The winner of the #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes will be randomly selected and announced prior to the game. As part of their prize package, he or she will have the opportunity to enjoy:
- Virtually deliver the commemorative game ball to Ford Field before the Detroit Lions take on the Houston Texans
- (1) autographed Replica Detroit Lions Game Ball
- (1) custom Detroit Lions jersey
- (1) Detroit Lions Prize Pack
- (1) $1,000 grocery gift card for their family’s Thanksgiving dinner
“We are happy to be able to not only continue the #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, but for the opportunity to be innovative during a season unlike any other,” said Detroit Lions Vice President of Marketing Emily Griffin. “We aren’t losing this special touchpoint with our fans in celebration of building healthy habits early in life but taking it virtual. The Annual Thanksgiving Day Classic is our greatest tradition and we’re looking forward to it, and this shared experience with BCBSM, more than ever.”
The #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes supports Blue Cross’ ongoing commitment to children’s health through its #MIKidsCan campaign and partnership with the Detroit Lions’ Play 60 program – initiatives focused on encouraging kids to adopt healthy habits and get active for at least 60 minutes every day. Over the last 15 years, Blue Cross has given more than $6.5 million in support of kids’ health and wellness initiatives across the state, reaching almost 395,000 children in more than 900 schools.
