LANSING, Mich. — The 9th annual Cesar Chavez Commemorative Celebration took place Friday.
Each year communities come together to honor the life of civil rights activist Cesar Chavez.
The event took place at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
Those who took part were able to participate in a question and answer session, free lunch, and an awards ceremony.
This year's celebration kicked off by acknowledging the 70th anniversary of the Longoria Affair, with a special screening of a documentary paying tribute to the Texas civil rights case that fought for segregation and equal rights in 1965.
