Charles Lewis Jr.'s mother will be laid to rest on Monday.
The 20-year-old convicted killed walked away from his Detroit area group home earlier this month reportedly to be by his dying mothers side.
He was arrested in South Lansing on Friday morning.
Lewis Jr. was near the end of a delayed juvenile sentence for his role in the 2010 murder of Shayla Johnson.
He remains in the Ingham County Jail, held without bond.
He's due back in court for sentencing on November 1.
