Gander Mountain going out of business

GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WSYM)-- Gander Mountain filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy causing many locations to close in several states. Back in March, it was said Michigan locations would be fine until now.

"This is a newer store so I thought maybe they'd stay open,"Bill Marrison said.

The Gander Mountain in Grand Ledge is going out of business.
Customers say it has been open for barely a year, so this announcement comes as a surprise for a lot of them. Plenty of people were taking advantage of the deals.

"Everything is a good deal too. Everything is like 50% off which is awesome," Barry Yang said. Barry and his family have been there twice since they found out about the closing.

One customer said it's sad more people couldn't shop at the store before the signs were up.

"When that sign isn't out here, there's not as many customers here. Once that sign goes up, people like to have their discounts rather than have that local feel. If people were doing this everyday, that place would still be open," Jason Merrioo said.

Customer service at the store said they won't know if they are closing their doors for good until May 19th.
