A Lansing teacher was recognized for her passion and dedication to students Monday.
Gier Park Elementary's Cathy Schrock was given the "Teacher Hero" award from PNC Bank. The honor includes a $2,000 grant to help fund classroom projects. Schrock plans on putting the money to use right away. She said, "I'm looking to get some rain gear so my children can play outside in this wonderful Michigan weather, some rain boots, and some total outfits so they won't get muddy when they play in the mud. I'm also looking to expand some outdoor art, outdoor building and expand my book area inside my classroom."
The "Teacher Hero" award is part of PNC's $350 million dollar "Grow Up Great" initiative, which invests in early education.
