The Grand Rapids Public Museum is planning to reopen in July but with some restrictions.

The museum will reopen for its members from July 1- July 3. It will be closed for cleaning for the Independence Day holiday on July 4 and Sunday, July 5 for cleaning and then open to the public on Monday, July 6.

The museum will be limiting the number of people inside, asking guests and staff to wear masks, and implementing a strict cleaning regimen. Guests will need to purchase their tickets in advance so there is no-contract entry.

People who are medically unable to wear a mask will not be required to wear one.

Touch screen and virtual reality experiences are also temporarily canceled.

The museum says it will be extending its famous Bodies Revealed exhibit to September 27 for families to enjoy.

It has also moved Sean Kenney's Wild Connections Made with LEGO Bricks to open in November of 2020.

“We look forward to welcoming our community back to our space after nearly four months of being closed,” said Dale Robertson, President & CEO of the Grand Rapids Public Museum. “Our team has taken many steps and precautions to limit risks associated with COVID-19 transmission in our spaces. Visitors will see new procedures, including at the Museum’s entry, and throughout our exhibition spaces.”

The museum also has a variety of fun, educational resources available online for free.
