LANSING, Mich. — In January 2021, FOX 47 is changing the way we bring local news to Mid-Michigan and we’re asking for your help.
As we develop our new news plans and strategies, we are fully committed to being as inclusive and diverse as possible – both within our building and how we execute and tell your stories.
Recent research has shown that people from minority communities are underrepresented during news content throughout this country.
Unfortunately, for some, when they see someone who looks like them during the news, it’s usually a mugshot or similarly negative story. We want to change that, and we need your help.
We’ve identified your organization as one that we frequently reach out to for expert advice.
We’re asking you to consider choosing experts you may have on staff that are part of minority communities.
With your help, we can ensure that regardless of skin color, sexual preference, religion, etc. when people see someone who looks like them on the news, they’ll see doctors and lawyers, leaders from local churches, businesses and organizations as well as other professionals.
