LANSING, Mich. — The protests in Hong Kong we've been showing you for the last couple of weeks are dividing students on the MSU campus.

The words "Hong Kong add oil" were painted in Cantonese on the rock Tuesday.

The phrase is a mixture of Chinese and English generally used to show support and encouragement in Hong Kong.

One Chinese student said it's disrespectful to the idea--there is one China that includes Hong Kong.

"The stone behind me was painted, not a good thing about China and we're sorry about that so we are going to change it in our perspective, and you know what China we won't leave anything behind us, so we will take care of them."

The group of Chinese students stood in front of the rock until they could cover up the message and chanted in Chinese "China you're the best."
