UPDATE: Police have made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of a Jackson man early Sunday morning. Police say a 27-year-old woman who lived with the victim has been arrested. She has not been named pending her arraignment.

Police have now identified the victim as 27-year-old Ben Allen Johnson. Police tell FOX 47 News that the two had been in a relationship for approximately two years.
On Sunday at 4:30 a.m. Johnson was brought to the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital Emergency Department by a female acquaintance. He had a gunshot wound to the chest, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the woman who took Johnson to the hospital is the suspect. She was arrested Sunday.

Police say they believe the shooting took place at a home in the 400 block of W. High Street in Jackson.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.
A man died early Sunday morning after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. Neighbors say the shooting happened just feet from Samuel Miller's house in Jackson.

"There was some commotion around 5 or so at the house, and my wife said she heard some noise out there," Miller said. "I told her keep the door shut because we don't want to get involved and don't want to see what actually happened, if something did happen. So everybody just stayed inside and waited for the smoke to clear."

Jackson Police say the shooting is believed to have happened on the 400 block of High Street. Neighbors say this isn't the first time this kind of violent crime has happened in the area.

"Last year there was a shooting over here on this street, then there's this," Miller said. "There's always some kind of loud music or something roaming around here, just typical, especially when the weather gets nice." The crime hasn't really gotten worse lately, but it hasn't gotten better, says Miller.

"It's about the same. Every summer something starts up and something happens, so it's just a typical day around here," he said.

A man who lives one street over from the crime scene says it isn't an unsafe part of town. He says the shooting happened at what is essentially the edge of the area where crime is bad.

"You get a lot of police, fire trucks, whatever flying by, they're mainly going the other direction," Brandon Michael Bond said. "This area here is pretty quiet. I mean you hear the gun shots from the other side of town, but that's about it."
